Stop!

Sometimes you just have to stop and get back to reality! For example, my kids are all crying and not going to bed, I am cross with them because I have lots of work to do; I am also cooking tomorrow nights supper, my tea water is getting cold and I have to do an email (I have to!), and I am not exactly in a good space at the moment. So here is my advice to myself and anyone else who reads this far: if everything seems to be working against you then stop and do nothing for a moment. Feel your feet, think about the earth energy flowing up into your body, notice your breathing, wait, feel what is happening. Do this and then you will be ready to act from a calmer, less reactive space. You might even find some amusement which will definitely help. All this takes very little time but getting your space back in this way is great. Who knows why you got thrown off kilter, it could be a myriad of reasons none of which are important. When you stop and let go in this way you allow yourself to get realigned with the flow of everything around you, and your life can work again!

Meditation gives you a chance to practice some tools that help clear the reactive parts of you so there is less inside you that gets 'wound up' by the circumstances you find yourself in. Meditation can help you relax and transform yourself. Ironically sometimes you do something in meditation that makes you a little more reactive as a deeper unconscious part of you wakes up and becomes 'live'. It is a good idea to firstly know this is a possibility and secondly to notice when it happens so you can not be so caught up in it. (it is what I have called a 'growth period' and is a great opportunity for change even if it does not feel like it when you are in the middle of it). Last month I talked about doing nothing and how difficult that is. Behind or beyond or as well as the part of us that is always doing is another part that when it comes to the fore feels very different- sometimes it feels like my awareness become very large- perhaps you have experienced this or something similar. This other part of ourselves is always there waiting for us, watching, being, guiding, accepting, embracing, supporting- it is you. It is not always obvious but it is always there. When we stop and do nothing that is what we find. See if what I say is true for you .....
